Eyewitnesses have reported seeing a blood-soaked man on Bexhill seafront, hours after two men were stabbed in St Leonards.

Following this afternoon’s double stabbing in Church Road at 1pm, officers launched a search for a potential third victim along the beaches of St Leonards and Bexhill.

A stretch of promenade by the Bexhill Sea Angling Club was cordoned off by police earlier this afternoon.

Michael Rickwood, of GC Dannicks, was carrying out some work on the Bexhill Sea Angling Club when he spotted a man covered in blood approaching.

He told the Observer: “A young fellow come just covered in blood.

“I said to him are you OK, is there anything we can do and he said ‘no, I have just fallen off my bike’.

“He carried on walking up the road.

“I thought no more of it then the police helicopter came over and police appeared from everywhere.”

Residents have reported that the police helicopter has been circling the skies over Bexhill this afternoon as the police investigation continues.

Police on the scene could not confirm or deny that the cordon was linked to the stabbings.
