It would seem that Bexhill has acquired another permanent edifice on its eastern promenade in keeping with the offensive garden sheds on its western promenade.
I refer to the abandoned lorry sporting two mechanical diggers on the green at Galley Hill.
Further enquiries from the police provide the bland information that no one has laid claim to this equipment and there is nothing they can do about it, in spite of the fact that the name of the Italian company claiming ownership is there for all to see.
Surely in this day of almost instant electronic communication it wouldn’t be difficult to get in touch with the owners and get them to remove their lorry asap.
With the long arm of Interpol available to our local force it is difficult to see why ‘there is nothing we can do about it’.
Perhaps, that’s exactly the problem. The longer the arm the more slowly it grinds and the easier it is for our local sleuths to detach themselves from the problem.
