When a Tory PM and a billionaire American President hob-nob with such glee, we are right to be suspicious. So what is Theresa May up to?

I’ll hazard a guess: to replace the EU with the US.

And I’ll go closer: TTIP.

TTIP is that secretive, pre-business Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership being pushed by the military-industrial complex which runs America and the City here in the UK.

Goodbye democracy, farewell localism. And that is music to the ears for the born-to-rule party.

The Tories have form when it comes to the ‘special relationship’ as witness the import of privatisation, the brainchild of the American Peter Drucker.

They also have form when it comes to democracy, with former PM John Major declaring that the EU referendum result was ‘the Tyranny of the majority’.

But he has an unexpected ally in Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour party.

That’s right, Labour intends to side with Tory rebels to try to overturn the referendum results in the vote in Parliament. The party of the people has been silent as the grave and it seems quite to have gone over to the other side.

There is no over-arching plan, no coherent alternative to the dog-eat-dog our country has become, no vision of a future direction.

Yes, it all seems far away - but watch this space.
