LETTER: So much for devolving power

Protestors succeeded in halting fracking in the south, but in the north, Theresa May's government has overruled the parish and the county council and is allowing fracking in the Fylde. So much for devolving power and democracy!

One wonders what it will do about drones.

Drones are to be used to deliver medicines including vaccines to inaccessible areas in Rwanda. Clearly in underpopulated areas of Africa safety is not so much of an issue.

But in our densely populated country, invasion of privacy, noise pollution and dangers from drones will make it a far more contentious issue.

The government is in discussion with Amazon about the use of drones. Let us hope that money and greed will not rule the day and that a few will not again dictate for the lives of the many.

Our skies are already very crowded. But I accept that, like me, many may find it difficult to think about our skies, while we fear what may happen soon in the skies above Aleppo, if the world stands by and does nothing.
