LETTER: The Orangery is open to everyone

As Chairman of The Friends of The Orangery I would like to thank the Bexhill Observer for including an article and photograph about this newly formed group in last week's issue of your newspaper.

However, I would like to clarify a few details about our organisation.

Although every resident of The Orangery Extra Care scheme in Sidley managed by AmicusHorizon is a member of the Friends of The Orangery group, the membership also includes individuals living in the area, as well as representatives from local groups and organisations who we will work very closely with.

As well as fundraising and taking up local issues that affect older people, The Friends will also work very closely with AmicusHorizon staff and will promote The Orangery’s facilities that are available to the public such as the Clementine Café, the on-site hairdressing salon and the two communal rooms that are available for hire at reasonable cost.

The Friends of The Orangery will also produce a bi-monthly newsletter that will go to all our membership and will report on successful fundraising and what that money has been or will be spent on. We will also inform members in advance of any fundraising events that we organise.

We will endeavour to expand our membership so, if you are interested in joining us or want one of us to come and give a talk to your group, please contact Alan Bearne on 0787 682 9326.

Once again many thanks to the Bexhill Observer for being the first to give us such generous publicity.

Alan Bearne

Chairman,

The Friends of The Orangery
