Rail changes will isolate residents

Southern Rail is threatening to reduce rail service to our community further isolating elderly, poor and young people in particular.

This could also damage our tourism. And how are young people who have weekend jobs to get to work? I don’t own a car and am utterly dependent on rail. We have no buses here.

Increasingly our coastal communities are becoming second home deserts off season. This will put added pressure on this transformation for our way of life. This is placing shareholders above a public that has given them this monopoly on the understanding that they provide this service. This franchise is a privilege not an entitlement.

Having travelled throughout Europe I can tell you this is easily the most expensive anywhere.

Why can’t Southern make this work?
