The changes proposed in respect of station staffing could be accepted if the ticketing machines provided worked to provide a service and not to confuse, irritate, delay and provide tickets at a higher price.
The latter point has been highlighted by the rail watchdog recently.
Before any staffing changes are made, ticketing machines need to be replaced and the rail company made to remember that their contract was won on the basis of providing a service not maximising profit.
