Was a covenant not in place?

Have your say

While it came as no surprise regarding the planning application for 70 houses at Gullivers Sports Ground it will have been received with great sadness by most local people.

As an ex sportsman of the club most of us were under the impression that there was a covenant in existence drawn up by the Gulliver Family leaving the sports field to the people of Sidley for recreational purposes.

In light of the recent approved ‘local expansion’ of 3,000 houses and the ‘rat run’ being created between the new by-pass and Wrestwood Road one would have thought it more prudent to retain existing recreational areas.

We are now in the tied hands of messrs Watson,Carroll & Co while the Heart of Sidley have sat on their hands and missed an opportunity to acquire a real heart!
