Jewellers apprentice Adam Claridge has picked up another award for Battle High Street shop Spectrum Fine Jewellery Ltd.
Adam won a silver medal following a gruelling three day competition staged by Worldskills UK in Birmingham.

In a twist, the selection committee said the apprentice jewellers' standards were so high and the marks awarded were so close that the three medal winners will have to undergo further assessment and training before they can choose a candidate to represent Great Britain at Worldskills International to be held in Calgary, Canada, in 2009.

Keith Ingram, Adam's master and employer, said: "We are very proud that Adam has done so well as I myself represented Great Britain in the same competition in 1967 and Sarah, my daughter and Adam's boss, attained the same award in 2003, and he didn't want to be outdone. Brilliant."

Worldskills is the forum for the finest craftspeople and trade apprentices from around the world and is hotly contested between East and West.
