Fairlight man gets £300,000 bill for drugs crimes

A Fairlight man sentenced to 12 years for drugs trafficking has been landed with a £300,000 bill from Sussex Police.
Kenneth Robinson, 48, of Farley Way, was convicted at Lewes Crown Court on April 26 last year for 17 counts of possessing and supplying Class A drugs, possession of firearms and ammunition and production of Class C drugs.

Police have now succeede
d in gaining a confiscation order for money estimated to have been made from drugs dealing.

Robinson was jointly convicted with his brother John, age 47, from St Matthews Gardens, Hastings, who was also subject of a confiscation order of £3,276.

Quantities of amphetamine, heroin and cocaine with a street value of about £117,668 were located at an address in Hughenden Road, Hastings, which the brothers had connections to.

A sophisticated hydroponics set up was also located at this address where more than 300 cannabis plants were growing, the estimated yield of which had a street value of more than £281,000.

Ellen Gander-Miller, from the Financial Investigation Unit, said: "The Sussex Police Economic Crime Unit will pursue all convicted criminals where they have made money from their crime.

The unit will identify how much money has been made through criminality and seek to have that money confiscated."
