A fifth man appeared in court this morning charged with robbery after an alleged kidnap in St Leonards on Saturday.
Harry Shanks, 22, of West Hill Road, St Leonards, appeared in court on Thursday and did not enter a plea to a joint charge of robbery.

On Monday three men appeared before Hastings magistrates, including one from Battle.

Philip O'Brien, 23, of North Street, St Leonards, his brother Lee O'Brien, 22, of the Fox pub, North Street, and Nathaniel Billings, 23, of Knights Meadow, Battle, did not enter a plea to a joint charge of robbery of £850 cash from Luke Stevens.

A fourth man, Matthew Orton, from Kent, was arrested on Monday, and appeared in court on Tuesday jointly charged with robbery.

Orton, 29, of Brookland, Romney Marsh, was also charged with taking a Ford Transit van without the consent of the owner and driving without insurance.

All five men have been remanded in custody and are due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on November 28.
