Several hundred people were in the Brede Valley on Saturday to see giant Victorian steam engines in action.
Brede Steam Engine Society showcased the impressive engines when it held one of its monthly open days.

George Coleman, from the Society, said: "It was a good day. We did a poll recently and 40 percent of those we interviewed knew about the steam engines and the restoration work."

The engines are currently running on compressed air but the Society hopes to eventually have them in full steam.

There is another chance to see the engines on Saturday when the Society opens Brede Waterworks as part of National Civic Trust Day.

George Coleman said: "Usually we open on the first Saturday of the month but this is a special occasion."

The waterworks will be open from 10am - 4pm and are sign-posted from the A28 at the top of Brede Hill.
