Rye will be celebrating its long association with the sea when the Rye Maritime Festival takes place on Sunday August 3.
The free event takes place around Strand Quay and features a packed line-up of entertainment.

Attractions will include the Raks Habibi Uk belly dancers, Maritime and Coastguard Agency, RNLI, Sea Cadets, Environment Agency, face painting, clown act Rowlock and Bilge, the Lindy Hoppers, plus a BBQ, beer tent and live music.

With the quay full of dressed boats the organisers would like to invite everybody to add to the colour of the day by dressing up in a costume with a nautical theme, such as pirates, smugglers or even Lord Nelson.

The event is organised by volunteers from the Rye Sailing Club and the Rye Harbour Boat Owner's Association and supported by the Environment Agency, Rye Town Council and local businesses.

Event organiser Charles Bronsdon said: "This will be the fourth year that the Rye Maritime Festival will be taking place this year and we are hoping for better weather than we have had in the past.

"It will be a great day out with something for all of the family."
