Rye councillors enjoyed a slice of cake before Monday's meeting to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Traidcraft.
Cllr Mary Smith explained that the cake was made by a local W.I. member using only Fair Trade products from the stall at St Mary's Church.

Cllr Smith said: "A steering groups exists with the aim of Rye becoming a Fair Trade Town.

"We have now fulfilled all the criteria and are waiting for the status to be confirmed."

A number of Fair Trade events have been planned for Rye in the future including a Fair Trade fashion show and a visit from a Fair Trade producer.
