Students will return next week to find a host of improvements including total refurbishment of three toilet blocks, new drains and a new floor for the gym, new fences and gates and the removal of two old wooden temporary huts.

Staff and parents at the college have been rolling up their sleeves to get involved with painting and decorating the building inside and out.
The work took place after the Parent Council raised concerns about the condition of the building, which they said was a "major concern".

Chairman Jane Ward said the Council was concerned that the proximity of the brand new primary school would emphasise the poor condition of Thomas Peacocke.

School principal Ann Cockerham said: "A lot of work has taken place and it should make a real difference for students and staff."

Rye county councillor Keith Glazier said: "The county council has paid for £200,000 for the improvements.

"There is money available in the future for improving schools and we are hoping to persuade the Government to make it available early so we can move ahead with improrving the building even further."
