Popular Rye events are under threat as tourism management in the town hits crisis point.
Rye has been without a Town Manager for more than a year now and popular events like the Scallop Festival and Taste of Rye have only continued mainly due to the solo efforts of one councillor, Lorna Hall.
Taste of Rye will go ahead in October and
is looking to be a great success, but the future of events like this are in the melting pot.
The future looks even more uncertain with Rye Town Services announcing it is terminating its contract to run Rye Heritage Centre, which houses the tourist information service.
It puts a question mark over who will run the Town Model and other attractions.
Rye Town Services say the decision was made after constant criticism from the Town Council on how they run the business.
Chief executive Kerry de Courcy said: "Quite frankly we were fed up with being shot at."
The Town Council has admitted no-one is in control of marketing Rye at the moment.
A meeting was due to take place at the Town Hall yesterday (Thursday) in a bid to find a way forward.
At a recent council meeting Lorna Hall said: "The Council has wasted a year. We are not gettting any marketing done and we have no money."
