Bexhill reach second final
Bexhill United reached their second final of the season with a 1-0 win over Hastings United reserves.
Peter Heritage scored the only goal of a fairly even Sussex County FA Intermediate Cup last four tie in the 33rd minute, glancing home Ben White's near post free kick.
Manager Paul Tuppenney said: "I'm over the moon, it's like a dream. Who would've thought that we would be where we are now? For this club, it's a hell of an achievement."
Hastings would probably have felt hard done by to be trailing at the break after Jack Franklin struck a post and Danny Ellis hit the crossbar.
Sam Hesmer was denied by Bexhill goalkeeper Arron Heritage when he seemed to certain to score, while Ellis also had a couple of efforts saved at The Saffrons, home of Eastbourne Town FC.
Hastings, who won the Hastings & District FA Intermediate Cup last month, had the bulk of the play after half time without really looking like fashioning an equaliser.
Their best moment came shortly before the end of a mild and calm, yet occasionally drizzly night when Franklin's strike whistled past the post.
David Harris and Mark Funnell had chances to wrap the game up for Bexhill only to be denied by the feet of Jani Seitsonen at his near post.
"We probably didn't deserve to win that. They were fit young lads and we couldn't live with it, but we battled and rode our luck a little bit," added Tuppenney.
Sussex County League Division Three Challenge Cup winners Bexhill will meet Ringmer reserves or Loxwood in the final on a date to be announced.
