Bexhill target strike ace McDonald

Bexhill United Football Club is hoping to continue its summer signing spree with the addition of prolific striker Scott McDonald.

McDonald, who had a brief spell at The Polegrove a few years back, scored 24 goals in all competitions for Sussex County League Division One outfit Hailsham Town last term.

United manager Glyn White said: "We've made him an offer and he's weighing it up. He's been training a couple of times and it would be good to get him."

Division Three side Bexhill had 38 players at their first formal pre-season training session last Thursday and a number of those have already committed themselves for the new campaign.

Among those to have completed the necessary paperwork are Will Dunstall, Mark Funnell, David Harris, Ben Oakman, Phil Rhodes, Sam Rimmer, Lee Roberts, Sam Thompson, Jethro Warren and Ben White.

Craig Ottley has agreed to join from Hastings United, but Chris Agutter now appears to be heading elsewhere.

Around 80 people enjoyed live music from local band 'Lumpy and the Lumpetts' and more than 300 was raised from a fundraising night at The Polegrove on Saturday. The club would like to thank everyone who supported the night.
