Davis aiming to snooker Greene

Mark Davis is finalising his preparations for a massive match on snooker's world tour.

The St Leonards hot-potter will face Gerard Greene in the final round of qualifying for the 888.com World Snooker Championship on Saturday.

Victory would send 35-year-old Davis through to the 32-man televised phase of the game's blue riband event at The Crucible, Sheffield, next month.

The former Benson & Hedges champion and winner of last year's snooker.de Open in Germany is currently 65th on the provisional rankings list.

Rainham-based Greene, 34, is the provisional number 28 on the back of reaching the 2007 Royal London Watches Grand Prix semi-finals.

The match will be the best of 19 frames at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield, with sessions starting at 10am and 4pm.
