Five things we learned from Albion’s win against Nottingham Forest

A Glenn Murray double and Anthony Knockaert goal took Brighton to a 3-0 win at home to Nottingham Forest this evening. Here are some of the key points to come out of the game.

1: Top of the league. For a few hours at least but it’s been an excellent first week of the season for Albion. Not many teams will get anything at Derby and two convincing home wins to follow it up suggests there is no hangover from last season.

2: He’s back. A double for Murray had the Seagulls fans singing the striker’s name once more. With the service Albion’s wingers will provide, he could score a hatful this season.

3: Clinical in the penalty area. While Forest’s Burke, who looked dangerous throughout, shot a glorious opening wide in the first half, Albion were clinical when their chances came, with Knockaert and Murray (twice) both scoring from close range.

4: Room for improvement. Albion weren’t at their best for much of the game but still did enough to win comfortably, which can only be a good thing. They looked a little bit too open at the back on a couple of occasions and their final ball and cross let them down at times.

5: Quality on the bench. Murphy and LuaLua weren’t even needed, which goes to show the strength in depth this Brighton squad has. Another defender and attacking player will still be a priority in the transfer window, however.
