Little Common Football Club is poised to make its debut in the FA Vase.

Common will contest their first ever game in the prestigious national knockout competition away to Hayards Heath Town tomorrow (Saturday).

“We probably would’ve liked to play someone else from another league and another area because that’s part of the reason why you want to go in there,” said Common player-manager Russell Eldridge.

“We’ve played them once already (this season) and beaten them so they’ll be fearing us a little bit I would say, although looking at their results they’ve just started to find their feet. I would imagine it’s going to be a tough game, but I think we’ve got that quality within our group to trouble anyone on our day.”

Sam Brown is unavailable and Jamie Crone, who has scored six goals in the last three games, is banned.

Having made their FA Vase debut last season, Bexhill United will also be in first round qualifying action tomorrow against higher grade AFC Croydon Athletic. The tie will be played at Hailsham Town FC.

“I think it’s quite a tough one, but I’m not worried about anybody,” said Bexhill manager Marc Munday. “If we perform and have a little bit of the rub of the green, we’ll be alright.”
