Footballers on form once again
Four of the area's five Sussex County Football League clubs were victorious on another super Saturday.
Rye United chalked up their seventh successive league victory – a 4-1 win at home to Steyning Town courtesy of goals from Danny Ellis (2), Marc Gall and Dominic Clarke.
It put Rye level on points with leaders Loxwood, who endured a fourth defeat in five league matches – 2-1 at Seaford Town, having played four games less.
Sidley United won 2-1 at home to Littlehampton Town, and although they remain just outside the three promotion places in fourth, the Blues are only a point back of Loxwood.
Matt Maclean gave Sidley an 11th minute lead and later scored the 48th minute winner after Barney Boutwood had brought Littlehampton level in the 19th minute.
Little Common stay sixth after coming from behind to triumph 2-1 away to bottom club Midhurst & Easebourne. Steve Morris scored both of Common's goals.
Westfield suffered a sixth loss in eight outings, however, as they slumped 4-0 at home to a Clymping side which has now won six league fixtures on the bounce.
James Doswell scored a hat-trick as Bexhill United consolidated top spot in Division Three with a 5-1 win at home to Saltdean United. Nathan Harding and Ben White also netted.
