GALLERY - Bexhill savour cup glory

Bexhill United are celebrating winning the Sussex County Football League Division Three Challenge Cup.

United were 2-1 victors over Haywards Heath Town at The Beaconsfield, home of Hailsham Town FC, with all the goals coming during the second half.

Manager Paul Tuppenney said: "I'm just proud of the lads really. They've trained their hearts out all season and now they've got their winners medals. We were definitely the better side on the day."

Bexhill had the upper hand without really looking like scoring during a first half of few chances on a sunny yet very windy afternoon.

They continued to hold sway at the start of the second period and went ahead on 62 minutes when Peter Heritage picked out the far top corner with a stunning 25-yard free kick.

United doubled their advantage 12 minutes later, David Harris doing well on the right and squaring for Andy Garman to fire into the roof of the net.

Heath pulled one back two minutes afterwards with their only shot on target of the entire 90 minutes.

But Bexhill weren't to be denied a deserved victory, Garman and Heritage going close to adding a third in the closing stages.

Ben White was named man of the match for a commanding display at the heart of the defence alongside Kingsley and Warren Parsons.
