  • South Saxons face teams lying second and third in next two games
  • Trip to Hailsham tomorrow will be followed by visit from Southwick
  • Saxons are three points clear at league summit
  • Hastings club won 8-1 at home to St Francis last weekend

South Saxons Hockey Club’s table-topping men’s first team will face the sides lying second and third in its next two games.

Saxons are three points clear at the Sussex Open League Division One summit ahead of the trip to third-placed Hailsham tomorrow (Saturday) and visit from Southwick next weekend.

A draw on Saturday wouldn’t make too much difference, but a win would put us in a really good position.

Jamie Busbridge

“It’s a bit tighter than we would like it to be, but hopefully we can put it right over the next couple of weeks,” said captain Jamie Busbridge.

“A draw on Saturday wouldn’t make too much difference, but a win would put us in a really good position.

“It’s always a very physical game against them. We will just try and play our hockey, keep our heads and hopefully that will be enough.”

Saxons should be full of confidence after playing “really well” according to Busbridge in last weekend’s 8-1 win over St Francis. Toby Reed is unavailable tomorrow.
