St Leonards racer on track at Silverstone

Despite suffering a major engine blow up during testing on the Tuesday preceding the race, Doc Rogers from The Bikers Shop in Western Road secured a creditable top 20 finish in the Production 600 class Race of the Year at Silverstone.

The Production 600 class of the Classic Racing Motorcycle Club (CRMC) Championship is one of the most competitive classes in the country, with many of the top 15 competitors being ex-national level riders and champions.

Doc said: “The engine blow up was a massive blow so close to the race. It meant coming back to Hastings and working through the night cobbling together a replacement engine from parts that we had laying around the workshop.

“My thanks must go out to the team mechanic Geordie Alan and our electrics wizard Scott Ragless. Without their hard work and support, I would not have made the race.

“I also need to thank my wife Sarah for putting up with me, Oakfield Property Management for the tyres they kindly donated and our main sponsor for last season, Mr Badgers Antiques.

“Even at club championship level it is rather expensive to be competitive so if anyone fancies supporting our push to go even higher next year, please do get in touch at the shop as every little helps.”

The CRMC Championship resumes next March and concludes next October at Brands Hatch, with racing at circuits around the country.
