H&B eager to make amends
Hastings & Bexhill Rugby Club in the snow
Hastings & Bexhill will be looking to make amends for one of their most disappointing performances of the season when they return to action tomorrow (Saturday).
H&B are due to entertain Sittingbourne at William Parker Sports College in Division One of the Kent Rugby League, kick-off 2.30pm.
Like so many teams up and down the country, H&B have been without a competitive match for almost three weeks due to the freezing weather conditions after the rearranged fixture away to leaders Gillingham Anchorians was postponed for the second weekend running.
“It’s the team that shakes off the little bit of rust over the last two or three weeks and hits the ground running,” said H&B head coach Kevin Smith regarding his team’s chances of avenging a 20-5 defeat against Sittingbourne in October. “We need to reverse that,” he went on. “We didn’t turn up and got what we deserved.”
Rye RFC, meanwhile, will finally hope to play their first home game of the year tomorrow when Newick visit New Road in Sussex One.
“It will be nice to see the club being used again and hopefully it will go ahead,” said Rye RFC chairman Tony Pierce. “We’re really looking forward to the game and hopefully it will be the restart to our season.”
