Saxons' chance to get back in it

South Saxons Hockey Club has the chance to rekindle its faltering title hopes tomorrow (Saturday).

Victory over South Hockey League Sussex Area - Division One leaders Worthing II would put second-placed Saxons within three points of the summit with three games remaining.

Player-coach Richard Harvey said: "You have to say our chances have diminished, but they're still there. The guys are really up for Saturday.

"We really want to put in a good performance and see if we can keep our unbeaten run going. I believe we have a reasonable chance. We're at home with a pretty strong side."

Saxons returned to winning ways after back-to-back draws with a 4-0 success at home to Crowborough last weekend, although top scorer Jamie Busbridge limped off with a hamstring injury and is unlikely to be fit.

Worthing made it 16 wins from 17 matches courtesy of an 11-2 defeat of Saxons' second team last time out and the only game they haven't won was November's reverse fixture which ended in a 2-2 draw. Push-back at

Horntye Park Sports Complex is 1.30pm.

The ladies of Saxons will win Division One of the Sussex Ladies League with three points at home to second-placed Hailsham (push-back 10.30am).
