Saxons somewhere near true form

Richard Harvey believes South Saxons Hockey Club is getting back to somewhere near its best form.

Saxons have recovered from the disappointing draw at Middleton & Bognor with wins against Brighton III and their own second team.

Player-coach Harvey said: "We're not playing to our full potential yet, but we're stabilising again. We had some changes post-Christmas and it was going to take a little while for those to settle in, but I think we're becoming a much stronger unit now."

Saxons remain second in the South Hockey League Sussex Area - Division One table, two points behind leaders Worthing II but six ahead of third-placed Penguin having played an extra game.

The visit from Horsham II, who are third-from-bottom having won only once all season, tomorrow (Saturday) should provide them with a decent opportunity to bolster the goal difference.

"I think it's very much a two horse race now," added Harvey. "Hopefully we will add to our goal difference against Horsham. It's at home which is of benefit to us so we will be looking to get a strong performance in there and win well."

Paddy Cornish has completed his suspension and is likely to take the place of Alex Coombs. Push-back at Horntye Park Sports Complex is 1.30pm.

The seconds of Saxons, who have dropped back to the foot of the standings in light of last weekend's result, are away to fifth-placed Lewes III tomorrow.
