United concede last gasp winner

Hastings United slipped to a last gasp defeat in the first match played under their impressive new floodlights.

Blue Square Premier Eastbourne Borough provided the opposition in a well-contested friendly at The Pilot Field on Wednesday night, Jamie Taylor's stoppage time finish giving them a narrow 2-1 win.

Hastings manager Tony Dolby admitted: "I'm a bit disappointed to lose a goal through a lack of concentration in the last minute after getting back in the game."

Borough took an early lead through Matt Crabb before Hastings got back on level terms six minutes from time when Luke Newman turned in a deep cross from the right.

Hastings used 20 players during the match and Dolby is now weighing up his options before whittling the squad down to 18.

They continue their preparations away to Erith & Belvedere on Saturday before hosting Sussex top flight side Rye United on Tuesday night, kick-off 7.45pm.
