United through and Sidley go top
Hastings United finally came through their Sussex Senior Cup third round tie against Lewes on Tuesday night.
Ade Olorunda scored the only goal of the third round replay in the 57th minute as United set up a quarter-final at home to Sussex County League side Shoreham next Tuesday.
Ryman League Premier Division play-off hopefuls United could have beaten their Blue Square South opponents by a more comfortable margin having struck the woodwork on three occasions.
United won the original staging of the replay last month after an epic penalty shootout, but the match was ordered to be restaged after it was discovered they had unwittingly fielded an ineligible player.
To complete a good night for the area's clubs, Sidley United chalked up a dramatic 2-1 victory at home to Seaford Town to go top of Division Two in the Sussex County League.
Zack McEniry was the Blues' hero with a 90th minute winner at a foggy Gullivers in a game spoiled by the unnecessarily card happy officiating of Bob Minty.
The Bognor Regis referee dismissed one player from either side, including Sidley's Chris Agutter, despite the fact that there was hardly a bad tackle in the game.
Kevin Barden gave Sidley a half time lead with a lovely turn and finish in the 17th minute, but Sean Breach levelled for Seaford from a free kick early in the second period.
