A GROUP of vintage bike loving cyclists have a busy few months ahead of them in 2014 as they continue to take to the streets of 1066 Country and beyond decked out in tweed.
The Classic Cycle Group meets regularly for a genteel ride and an afternoon tea or similar activity – with each member going under a special moniker, with pseudonyms including Lord Long Socks and Lady Many Hats.
And they have a host of rides and reconstructions pencilled in for this year.
First up locally is a tweed and tea ride in Bexhill on Sunday May 11 at 10.15 where cyclists will cheer off a drive of vintage motorcycles planned for the morning. The cycle will be two to three miles with an optional extra ride – and vintage or tweedy attire is encouraged, with bikes best pre 1980.
Current events organiser Lord Long Socks has stepped down from the role – meaning the Classic Cycle Group is on the look-out for a replacement.
Anyone who would like more information on the group, or to volunteer to help, should visit the club’s Facebook page by searching TheClassicCycleGroup, check out its website at www.classiccyclegroup.co.uk, email email@example.com or call 07711241891.
