Variety Music Hall raises cash for festival

Bexhill Festival of Music is presenting a special Variety Music Hall performance, starring veteran comedian and actor,Roy Hudd, to raise much needed funds to support this year’s event.

Chairman of the Bexhill Festival of Music, Tony Mansi, is producing the fundraiser with musical director Laurence Payne taking the helm. The Variety Music Hall show will be held at the De La Warr Pavilion, February 16 at 5pm and Toni said it promises to be a spectacular musical extravaganza with plenty of laughs. “We are privileged to have Roy Hudd to headline this event for us along with other talented Music Hall Veterans and West End artists Julia Sutton, Peter John, Philip Day and Michael Pearce.”

He added: “We need to raise funds for the Bexhill Festival of Music and hope that Bexhillians will support this event.”

Roy Hudd, who started his career as a Butlin’s Redcoat is celebrating his fifty first year in show business. On his website he says he’s “tackled everything”, adding: “My theatre career is a long and distinguished one encompassing concert party, music hall, variety, musicals, and the legit from Ray Cooney to Shakespeare. Pantomime has been an enormously important part of my career having appeared in more than thirty and written almost as many. Four years ago I was awarded the OBE in the New Year Honours List for Services to Entertainment.”

Roy Hudd is President of The British Music Hall Society and Toni Mansi said he is the perfect choice to head the line-up for the show. Tickets £15 from the De La Warr Pavilion box office 01424 229111.
