Best yet from Chantry school singers

HASTINGS Music Festival Trophy winners the Chantry Community Primary School Choir made a triumphal return to Bexhill Hospital's Irvine Unit.

There are 28 children in the choir, aged 7-11. The choir is open to any pupil who enjoys singing and rehearses weekly after school.

There was virtually a full house in the communal atrium for a recital by the choir under the League of Friends-sponsored Arts in Healthcare programme. The youngsters’ previous visits have included a pre-Christmas recital. They received a warm reception from patients, staff and visitors. The programme opened with I’m Still Singing, Skyfall, and Walking on Sunshine. The children continued with You’ve Got a Friend in Me and Life Is What You Make It. A gospel medley cleverly blended Swing Low Sweet Chariot with When the Saints Go Marching In, the choir coping admirably with the two-part harmony. The children finished with a flourish via the lively Eye Of The Tiger and Easter Jubilation. The Rev Neville Barnett thanked them for their “best performance yet.” By John Dowling.
