Bexhill Down Townswomens Guild

MEMBERS of Bexhill Down Townswomen's Guild Social Studies Section had an early Christmas party, with poems and quizzes - and discovered a pianist in their midst. "Life" was the subject for Reading And Pleasure members, but with a Christmassy flavour.

There were readings of old favourites and new authors, ranging from everything you would wish to know about Christmas to Thomas Hardy's The Oxen and Robert Scott's Diary in the Antarctic, Christmas 1902. Well-known Christmas songs, from stage and screen, were played by Louise Denny, at the guild Christmas party, while Margaret Mitchell produced a superb raffle.

With this December party we said goodbye to Victoria Hall and from January the guild will meet at St Augustine's Church Hall. We look forward to welcoming present and new members and visitors to our first meeting there at 2pm on Wednesday, January 14.
