Bexhill Hanoverian Study Group - June 13

ON Wednesday, May 21 at St Peter's Community Centre, Bexhill Hanoverian Study Group member, Mr Roderick MacArthur, gave a talk on The King's German Legion Organisational Structure over the years.

This was a remarkable lecture, with slides, which illustrated the structure of the British Army during the Napoleonic era and compared it with the pre-1830 Hanoverian system. The authorised establishment of the King's German Legion from 1803-1815 led to the successful adoption of much of the British structure of an army and the excellent reputation earned by the KGL. Mr MacArthur's research had taken many years and illustrated his dedicated interest in military history.

The next meeting of the BHSG will be held on Wednesday, June 18 at 7.30pm at St Peter's Community Centre when Mr Jeremy Hodgkinson, of the Wealden Iron Research Group, will be giving an illustrated talk on Wealden Gunfounding, to include the Hanoverian period. There will be aspects of local interest and visitors will be most welcome.
