BLOG to help fundraise for Duchenne’s

Battle Light Opera Group (BLOG) will be bring Gilbert and Sullivan’s ‘The Mikado’ to Battle’s Memorial Halls under the directorship of Sue Gladman and the baton of Andrew J Daniels.

BLOGs chair Lee Lyons, said: “The committee and membership of BLOG have been incredibly impressed with the dedication and professionalism of Andrew, and in return I am pleased to reveal that BLOG will be using the show as an opportunity to raise money for, and awareness of, Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy. This is a condition that I know lies close to Andrew’s heart as he and his husband David are full time carers for a young man with Duchenne’s, and I have nothing but admiration for the work they do.”

Alongside bucket collections the society has agreed to make a donation taken from ticket sales to Muscular Dystrophy UK, the money raised will be go towards research into discovering effective treatments. Andrew said “I am delighted that BLOG have chosen to raise money for research into Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy, and I am very excited about the quality and professionalism of the cast and direction of this show.”

‘The Mikado’ will be performed between November 12-14, with a matinee on Saturday afternoon. Tickets cost between £5 and £12 each ticket sold will include a contribution to Muscular Dystrophy UK. Tickets can be purchased from www.battlelightoperagroup.org.uk, on 01424 211140 or in person at ‘Fancy Pants’ in Battle.
