Book to Film Clubat Electric Palace

The acclaimed American author and musician, Willy Vlautin, will soon be walking up the golden steps of the Electric Palace cinema at The Bourne in Hastings Old Town on Sunday, November 9 from 4pm.

He will be in Sussex to introduce the film adaptation of his book, The Motel Life, starring Emile Hirsch and Stephen Dorff as brothers.

Willy, who lives in Portland, USA, has written four acclaimed novels including

He is also the lead singer and songwriter for the acclaimed alt-country band, Richmond Fontaine. Willy’s appearance, as part of the Electric Palace’s Book to Film Club series of screenings, coincides with the performance that evening of his current band, The Delines, who will be playing at the De La Warr Pavilion. So, fans of the author and musician will have time to make it to both events. Vlautin cites writers such as John Steinbeck and Raymond Carver as influences, and his songwriting has been compared with Tom Waits, and Paul Kelly.
