The Boy From Bexhill Is Coming Home soon

This month sees an intriguing performance at St Augustine’s church off Wickham Avenue in Bexhill.

It’s a concert called The Boy From Bexhill Is Coming Home put together by Simon Wookey who is bringing the South Oxhey Community Choir for a day beside the sea with a bit of singing thrown in.

Simon leads the choir originally put together by the inspirational Gareth Malone in 2008 as part of the ‘The Choir - Unsung Town’ tv series. When Gareth became too busy his assistant Simon stepped in to help, and eventually the new choir asked him to take on the role of musical director permanently.

Having discovered their passion in music of all types the choir now has over 100 members and Simon will accompany 90 of them to Bexhill on a day trip to his old home town. They will perform at the Grosvenor Park nursing home but also go to the Sovereign Light Cafe where they will sing a couple of Keane favourites.

The event takes place on October 17 and the concert starts at 6pm. Tickets will be available on the door or in advance from 07773 690979, or go to www.sochoirs.wordpress.com/events.
