Lost for over 200 years the work was eventually re-discovered and performed in 1939.

In the second half the choir will be singing Rossini’s beautiful Petite Messe Solennelle. The Mass is probably less well known than others in the repertoire but in true Rossini style it has wonderful melodies and, in places, an almost dance like rhythm.

Four young singers, who are rapidly gaining a fine reputation in the classical music world, will be singing; Emily Steventon, Mezzo Soprano, Angharad Lyddon, Contralto, Matthew Moss, Tenor, and Terence Ayebare, Baritone.

The choir and orchestra will be under the direction of the Director of Music, John Langridge.

Tickets are £15 and available from Raggs Boutique, 20 High Street, Battle and the Little Larder, 39 Norman Road, St. Leonards. Tickets are also available online by going to www. battlechoral.co.uk or by phoning 01424 870862 or 845219.

In September the choir recorded a special CD of ‘Music for Christmas’. The recording includes many popular carols and will be on sale at the concert.
