Extraordinary Times at Observer

As part of the Made In Hastings season there is a re-showing of Extraordinary Times at the Observer Building on Sunday at 1pm.

This documentary is about six women in their 80’s and 90’s who live locally. The film challenges attitudes and celebrates ageing in a new century as it explores their stories and the richness of their lives today.

Before the film there will be a showing of a couple of short films by Glenn Veness, with a short introduction. Glenn, like so many local people, also worked in the F J Parsons Observer Building.

The idea for the documentary came about when director Su Warren, having met an inspirational neighbour in her 90’s, became passionate about the importance of challenging current attitudes to ageing and celebrating women ageing today.

The resulting film has taken 18 months to create exploring as it does the lives of six wonderful women, keen to prove that life is to be lived to the full at any age. It is hoped Su will attend with a couple of the ladies including Beryl, the grand-daughter of FJ Parsons, in whose building the screening takes place. Free entry, donations welcome.
