Friends of St Jude's Refuge - June 13

THIS year St Jude's Refuge, which provides a sanctuary for women and children who have escaped the terror of domestic violence will be celebrating its 30th anniversary.

The Friends of St Jude's Committee was founded to help and fund raise for items that could not be bought through grants for the refuge and have included garden furniture, bedding and curtains and helped to pay for outings for the families and to supplement spending at Christmas and on other occasions.

Once again this year the Friends' Committee will be putting on a Strawberry Cream Tea in the Old Town, Bexhill (adjacent to the Community Centre) to help raise valuable funds. It will take place - to coincide with the Carnival route - on Saturday, July 26 from 2.30pm and there will also be a tombola and cake stall. We also organise coffee mornings and our small and friendly committee are looking for new members to join and help us. If you are interested in volunteering with the work of St Jude's Refuge and have some spare time please contact the membership secretary on 211176.
