Get busy in Bexhill this half-term

Family fun for half-term hols starts this weekend at the De La Warr Pavilion with the STEAM-Powered Big Draw Festival on Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon until 4pm.

This is a free event and a drop-in to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths (STEAM) through fun experimental drawing techniques and contribute to an evolving installation in the De La Warr Pavilion Studio, supported by artist Karen Logan, gallery staff and volunteers.

Please note studio capacity is limited, and entry for this drop-in event is first-come, first-served.

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday visitors can unravel some of the ideas and processes within the galleries, in artist-led workshops. Artist Karen Logan will facilitate alternative tours of the exhibitions, encouraging open-ended experimentation with creative skills and techniques.

DOT DOT DOT is on Monday from 10-1pm, £8, for ages 7 - 11 years who can explore full stops, circles, cylinders and spheres, and assemble dazzling structures and installations. Among The Stars is on Tuesday from 10-1pm, £8, for ages 7 - 11 years and will focus on producing decorative floating, flying artworks, using a variety of methods and materials.

Pop-Up Pages is the workshop on Wednesday from 10-1pm, £8, for ages 7 - 11 years, and will be about developing skills and techniques to engineer amazing 3D letters and glyphs in paper and card.

For adults there is a Letterpress Workshop on Saturday October 29 at 10.30am-4.30pm, £45, for 18 years+, and after a fun-filled week of keeping kids entertained it’s time to have some time to yourself...
