Jazz Giants heading this way

THIS MONTH’S gig features saxophonists Alan Barnes and Ian Price, accompanied by the JazzHastings trio.

Alan Barnes has enjoyed a prolific career as a sideman, playing and recording for many bands.

He broadcast regularly over a ten-year period with the BBC Big Band and Radio Orchestra and has toured and recorded with big band leaders, Dick Walter, Kenny Baker, Bob Wilber, Don Weller, Stan Tracey, Mike Westbrook and John Dankworth.

Over the years Alan has won many British Jazz awards in alto, baritone, clarinet and arranging categories. In 2001 and 2006 Alan received the prestigious BBC Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year award and in November 2003 was made a fellow of the Leeds College of Music.

Ian Price the tenor player is becoming more and more recognised on the British jazz scene. He has recently been touring with Alan Barnes and others with, ‘Milestones’, celebrating the music of Miles Davis. He has appeared with Peter King, Bobby Wellins, Roy Ayers, lan Barnes, Herbie Flowers and many more.
