Suite Francaise (15) is getting the most pre-publicity and certainly has the cast to encourage you to hand over your hard-earned cash.

Michelle Williams, Kristin Scott Thomas and Matthias Schoenaerts lead the way in this story set in Occupied France during the Second World War.

Williams (Shutter Island, My Week With Marilyn) plays Lucille who gets involved with a German soldier in the face of hostility on both sides.

X + Y (12A) also has an impressive line-up with the likes of Asa Butterfield, Sally Hawkins and Rafe Spall.

Butterfield (Hugo, Ender’s Game) is Nathan, a socially awkward and shy teenager who is a maths prodigy.

However, he starts to shine when he gets a place on the British squad at the International Mathematics Olympiad.

Liam Neeson has certainly seen a long run of similar roles and playing a mobster and hit man in Run All Night (15) isn’t exactly breaking the mould.

He has one night to decide where his loyalties lie - with the mob, with his son or with his best buddy.
