Admission to the charity gig at the Pig In Paradise on December 28 from 7pm will be £3 - or the donation of a blanket or sleeping bag.

Any cash collected will go to buying hats, scarfs, gloves, socks or other items specifically for the homeless sleeping rough in town who are facing Winter and its cold nights.

The event is being organised by the Localites joined by The Mysticians, Like A Glove, Peter Garolfalo, JoJo Batchen, Mi-Shell Storm, Cushty, KatDog, and Paul Crimin. Both rooms in the venue will have entertainment from bands and solo acts, such as punk poet UV Bev.

Troy Holland of The Localites said: “We need lots of people to attend...the more people that come, the more help we can give.”

The idea behind Warming Up The Homeless came originally from Beverley Woolley - UV Bev - and Troy saw how local bands could get involved.

He has been thrilled by response from musicians who wanted to get involved and hopes the campaign will spread.

Troy said: “I have been homeless myself so this is very close to my heart, it is personal to me. I was very lucky to end up getting some help a couple of years ago through some charities and now have my own place, but I would like to give something back and help other people in the same situation.”
