Midsummer Melodies next up for June concert by music group

After the success of Evening of Romantic Music and Winter Warmers concerts, the Hastings Sinfonia will be performing on Saturday June 27 at 7.30pm at St John the Evangelist Church, Brittany Road, in St Leonards.

The Hastings Sinfonia consists of amateur and professional musicians, who meet twice a month throughout the year. The conductor is Derek Carden who travels from London especially and the leader is professional violinist Peter Fields who has played in many of the great English Orchestras.

The concert will include works such as: Overture Light Cavalry by Suppe, The Magic Flute by Mozart, Schindler’s List by Williams, Duet from Carmen by Bizet, plus the Premiere of Funfair by local composer Polo Piatti.

Guest soloists include: Lithuanian tenor Gediminas Varna, who studied at La Scala and has performed worldwide, Thomasin Trezise, a professional soprano from Brighton, and local virtuoso violinist Nuri Koseoglu who has performed at many national venues.

Christopher Beaumont will perform two pieces by Sir Patrick Moore on the Xylophone - see Christopher’s website for info at www.chrisbeaumontxylo.co.uk

In addition the Hastings Sinfonia will be performing at the Hastings Midsummer Fish Fest on Saturday 20th June 12-1pm at The Stade, Old Town.
