Having topped Classic FM’s Ultimate Hall of Fame to be named the most popular classical work from the past 15 years, the centrepiece of the evening’s programme is without a doubt one of the most popular works ever written for the piano: Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.2.

Bringing a distinctly Romantic feel to the evening will be Smetana’s exhilarating Overture to his first, and most enduring comic opera, The Bartered Bride and Tchaikovsky’s turbulent Symphony No.5 which remains one of the composers most admired large-scale creations.
