Sussex skills show in Berwick

They say it takes 10,000 hours for craftsmen to learn their trade, but at the 39th annual exhibition by Six Sussex Artists and Craftsmen, one man alone reckons he has spent 60,000 hours perfecting his craft.

“The business of learning is never done,” said organiser Jonathan Chiswell Jones. The exhibiters are all members of the Sussex Guild and earn their living working with their hands. As only six are showing, it is hoped visitors will find the atmosphere relaxing and spend time looking at work made with love and skill. On show will be furniture, quilts, jewellery, wood engraved prints, pewter, and lustreware. The exhibition is open 10-5pm, and work may be taken when purchased. The exhibition will be at the English Wine Centre on Saturday October 31 and Sunday November 1. Entry free, all work is for sale.
