The weekend kicks off this evening, Friday, at 7.30pm with a group of talented musicians from the Rye Studio School who will take the stage at Kino-Teatr in St Leonards to present a showcase of their work over the last year.

They will perform a variety of styles and genres to demonstrate talent and diverse range.

On Saturday it all gets a bit passionate, starting at 4pm with with the beautiful Irish love story, Ondine directed and written by Neil Jordan and starring Colin Farrell and Alicja Bachleda.

This film is set on the coast of Cork and tells the story of Syracuse, a divorced fisherman with a disabled daughter who finds a nearly-drowned young woman in his net. She refuses to let herself be seen by anyone else. Is she a woman or is she a magical selkie?

This is poignant fairytale/love story guaranteed to get the audience in the right frame of mind for Valentine’s Day itself.

On Sunday, the brunch movie at 1pm is the classic Casablanca (1942), starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, one of the most popular films of all time. This movie tells the story of two men vying for same woman’s love.
