The Stables has a knack of scooping the rights to perform the West End’s hottest shows, and Jeeves and Wooster is the latest coup by director Chris Lacey.

Based on P.G.Wodehouse’s delightful stories of 1930s high society, the play sees aristocratic fool Bertie Wooster and valet Jeeves set off for a country house weekend which takes a turn for the worse.

Bertie is unwittingly called on to play matchmaker – reconciling the affections of his host’s drippy daughter Madeline Bassett with his newt fancying acquaintance Gussie Fink-Nottle. If Bertie, assisted by Jeeves, can’t pull off the wedding he’ll be forced to marry the ghastly girl himself.

All of this is complicated by Aunt Dahlia who wants him to steal an antique cow creamer from under the baleful nose of Sir Watkyn Bassett and the insanity of the would-be dictator Roderick Spode and his Black Shorts.

A cast of three - Stuart Miller, Rob Hustwayte and Jonny Magnanti – bring alive a variety of eccentric Wodehouse characters in this raucous, high-tempo comedy. Performances from Friday February 5 to Saturday February 15. Matinee at 3pm on Sunday 7 February. No show on Monday.. Tickets, priced at £13 (groups and under-18s £10, Stables members £8) are available at www.stablestheatre.co.uk or the box office on 01424 423221.
